Our packaging plays an important role in keeping our pet food safe and fresh. We also recognise that packaging materials have an environmental impact. That is why we are working to design packaging that can be recycled and uses less plastic over time, while helping reduce our footprint and protecting the quality and nutrition pets need.

Today, more than 95 percent of our plastic packaging is designed for recycling, a major step forward in reducing our impact. We are also working to reduce our use of virgin plastic, in part through incorporating more recycled content into our packaging. And when packaging is designed for recycling and collected and turned into something new, even more packaging can be kept in use.

Designing recyclable packaging and reducing waste can only go so far. We also support efforts to strengthen recycling systems so more packaging can be collected and reused.

We are supporting organisations and working in collaboration to help improve recycling systems, increase access to recycling and encourage the recovery of packaging materials.

Our commitment to regenerative agriculture and a resilient food system begins in the places where our ingredients are grown. By working closely with farmers globally, we support the adoption of regenerative practices that can improve soil health, biodiversity and water retention while helping reduce carbon emissions.

Regenerative practices also strengthen farms’ ability to withstand climate and environmental challenges, helping ensure a long term supply of quality, nutritious ingredients for pets everywhere.

Purina is helping scale regenerative practices across our global supply chain by supporting programs that work directly with farmers in regions where our ingredients are grown.

Globally, we invest approximately 30 million USD each year to support the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices. These programs provide farmers with tools and expertise to adopt practices that work in harmony with nature while supporting the long term resilience of farming systems.

This includes practices such as cover cropping, reduced tillage, crop rotation, and improved water and nutrient management.
