At Purina, we have a team of more than 400 global scientists who aim to make discoveries that better the lives of pets everywhere. Our colleagues working in quality assurance, research and development are always on the look-out for the latest available science and information regarding ingredient safety. We also have scientists who are tasked with researching any known or suspected safety issues and informing other team members of their findings. All of this allows us to create high-quality pet food that you can trust.

The Protection of Beyond Pet Food

The quality and safety of our products is our top priority, and our quality control procedures are among the strictest in the industry. Our sophisticated tracking system ensures raw ingredients are tracked from time of receipt at our plants, through their inclusion in finished products, and on to the shelf in store. What's more, to ensure that our high-quality pet food meets the standards you expect, we:

• Require each of our ingredient suppliers to meet our stringent standards for ingredient specifications, product safety, hygiene and manufacturing practices. For more detail on these standards, see our Nestlé Supplier Code.
• Continuously audit our suppliers to ensure compliance with this Nestlé Supplier Code and to apply a philosophy of continuous improvement.
• We adhere to over 50 pieces of legislation which cover the production of good quality pet food, as well as the good practice guidance issued by the European Pet Food Industry association (FEDIAF).

Our in-house pet nutritionists play a crucial role in the creation of Beyond pet food. From choosing ingredients to overseeing every step of the formulation process, they optimise the way ingredients and essential nutrients come together to support your pet’s long-term health and well-being. No one is more qualified than a pet nutritionist to formulate and monitor the food you give your pet each day.

We know that not all dog food ingredients are created equally and that there are many ingredient suppliers to choose from.

That's why we're extremely selective when establishing a relationship with a new one. Our pet food ingredient suppliers play an important role in the creation of each Beyond® recipe, so we ensure from the start that they meet our expectations for ingredient specification, product safety, hygiene and good manufacturing practice. We can proudly say that our quality assurance standards are among the strictest in the pet food industry.

We also follow good practice guidance issued by the European Pet Food Industry Association (FEDIAF) to ensure that we meet, and - where possible - exceed, the high dog food standards you expect.
